The CU Do Good campaign began in the summer of 2015 as a way to bring smiles and help to those in our East Texas community through random acts of kindness. This year, we’re looking to do more for those in our area who do more every single day by carrying out their missions of hope, help, and service to people in need. CTCU’s CU Do Good is donating a total of $10,000 to qualifying nonprofit organizations in Tyler and the surrounding communities including Kaufman, Whitehouse, Rains, and Van Zandt just to name a few.

Community residents play the biggest role by helping their favorite charities by participating in the CU Do Good community contest.

Want to join in on the fun? Here’s how you can help our East Texas nonprofits!

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day stresses of life, and that can sometimes be depressing. Volunteering for something that is meaningful to you can help put things back in focus without denting your bank account. If it’s been a while since you’ve helped out for your favorite causes, pick it up again. Not sure where to start? Look through the list of nonprofits HERE and learn more about how they’re helping our community. Whether it’s a one-time, random act of kindness or making a weekly commitment to helping – every bit helps… Plus, it feels great to give back to those around us.

If you, or your family, are in a financial place to tithe, this is another great way to teach your children about giving. It’s important to find a nonprofit that lines up with your own interests and values. Find one, two, or even five nonprofits and find how you can donate. Decide if it’s in your budget to contribute monthly or even just a one-time gift. You will feel the benefit of giving from the comfort of your couch. What’s even cooler is when you keep up with the organization and see exactly how your donation is being used to help others around East Texas. Find a list of nonprofits to get your start HERE. Many nonprofits make it easy to learn more about their cause and donate with ease.

By far the easiest way to get involved with CU Do Good is to vote for the nonprofits who are registered! CU Do Good needs your help to determine where you donate $10,000 to local nonprofits. How it works – go to the website, find our list of East Texas nonprofit organizations that need your help. Learn a little bit about each one’s mission in our community and cast your vote. Remember that you can vote once each day from July 3rd through August 14th for all your favorite organizations and really make a difference in our community. The five nonprofit organizations with the most votes in their categories will be awarded $1,500 each. Additionally, two early bird rewards of $500 each will be given to the organizations who are the first to reach 100 votes. Also, the top overall highest number of votes from all 5 categories will receive an additional $1,500! We’ll announce the winners on KETK ETX Live on August 18th.

No matter how you give back to your community, it’s important that you just do it!
